"Train-the-Trainer" sessions are available for programs to
provide effective in-house training for staff and parents.

Materials Development
Training
Modules for teachers, staff and parents are currently
available on a variety of topics. These training modules
can be modified to meet specific program or state requirements;
and similar training modules can be developed on other topics.
Dr. Hendricks works with clients to identify training needs,
research appropriate and accurate information, and develop
training modules that include trainer guide, PowerPoint
presentation, handouts, and evaluation plan.
Curriculum development and evaluation: Dr. Hendricks
develops and/or revises preschool and elementary curriculum
materials. Clients include national professional
organizations, universities, and national research grantees, as
well as individual programs (CV and references available upon
request). Curriculum development services involve
collaboration with experts in content, child development, and
early education. Curriculum evaluation is integrated
throughout the development process.
In addition,
Children's learning activities and information resources
on specific topics can be developed. To see examples,
please refer to the
HIP on Health Children's Booklets, and the
Sun Safety Alliance: Children's Activities.
Professional development resources can be developed or
revised to fit specific topics and needs for your program.
For example, Dr. Hendricks is currently working with WestEd and
the California Department of Education as lead writer for the
health domain chapter in the California Preschool Curriculum
Framework, Volume 2, and is an expert advisor on the
accompanying foundations and health measures. Dr Hendricks
is Editor for a national refereed magazine, Healthy CHILDCare,
and was lead author for the Health Education chapter in the
NAEYC "Reaching Potentials" publication.
Parent,
family and community information resources can be developed
(e.g., brochures, handouts, flyers, forms and other graphic
materials). For example, please refer to
HIP on Health and
More HIP on Health.
Community
Assessment Services
Head Start programs are
required to complete a full community assessment every three
years, with an annual update. Most community Action
Agencies also are required to access community assessments
every two years. The following services are available:
Community Needs
Assessment Presentation. The following link provides a
sample presentation on how to conduct a community
assessment. This is the basis for a full-day training
on how to conduct the assessment in your community, and
identify the needs of and available to your specific target
population. For Agencies that intend to complete their
own community assessment process, Dr. Hendricks will work
with staff to develop appropriate survey instruments and
survey methodology, and instruct staff on how to identify
resources, locate and compile data (e.g., population
demographics), and prepare a summary report.

manuals for Head Start programs and other public agencies.

| "As
the largest nonprofit organization in the State of
Alabama I have had the great pleasure of working with
Charlotte Hendricks while developing the required
Community Needs Assessment for our Head Start Program.
Charlotte's consulting agency developed a Community
Needs Questionnaire that was specific to Federal
requirements and guidelines. She was able to
customize surveys to address multiple statistical needs
within our program.
I
endorse Charlotte to other agencies throughout the area
with great enthusiasm."
