HIP Parent Materials

Do you have questions about common childhood illnesses?  Do you want easy-to-read information on preventing injuries?  Are you looking for ways to teach parents and families about important health and safety topics?

If so then HIP (Health Information for Parents) is for you!

This practical resource helps parents and families, teachers, and caregivers learn more about keeping children healthy and safe.  The HIP on Health set includes reproducible mini-posters and information sheets on 65 different health and safety topics.  And the More HIP set includes 65 additional topics.  Buy both sets for a total of 130 different topics!  Topics include common childhood illnesses, injury prevention, medical and dental care, nutrition, discipline, and much more.  Click here for a list of topics in English.  For Spanish click here for HIP on Health, and here for More HIP on Health.

Printed in black on white paper, these materials can be reproduced within your program, allowing you to provide each of your families with important information year after year.

Materials are available in both English and Spanish!  Click here for order form!

Both HIP on Health sets have undergone revision. These are now available! Why did we revise something already so great? Technology has changed and as a result those changes have enabled us to provide cleaner/crisper graphics which reproduce much better for you. Along with the graphics we are also updated the content! We are also making sure that those clients who previously purchased the HIP on Health series will be able to obtain new master copies at a discounted rate.  Contact Dr. Hendricks for more information.

Mini-Posters

Each 8 1/2" x 11" mini-poster addresses a topic related to the health, safety, and development of young children.  Through clear, concise content and appealing graphics, these materials attract families' attention and increase awareness of the topic.  Mini-posters can effectively be used in locations or situations where families do not have a lot of time.

These reproducible materials can be printed onto brightly colored paper and laminated for display.  Suggested uses for these mini-posters are:

  • Post on family bulletin boards or near entrance/exit doors.
  • Display in examination or waiting rooms of doctor's offices, health departments, or clinics.
  • Provide copies as coloring sheets for children to take home.
  • Use the mini-posters as topics for discussion with children.

Information Sheets

Each information sheet begins with a humorous cartoon strip, then presents specific information on the topic.  These sheets can be posted or sent home to parents and families.  Use sheets as handouts during training or add to your agency newsletter to keep staff and families informed.

Suggested uses for these sheets are:

  • Send sheets home each week to families.
  • Copy sheets into your program or agency newsletter.
  • Distribute information sheets on topics related to specific seasons or activities, such as "Toy Safety" at holiday time.
  • Provide answers to families' questions on topics such as diaper rash or biting.
  • Distribute sheets in clinics in response to children's health needs.
  • Attach sheets to appointment letters, such as "Eyes and Vision" when scheduling vision screening.
