 Promoting Mental Health in
Early Care and Education Settings
Nurturing and
promoting good mental health is essential in early childhood.
Yet the term mental health is often misunderstood by caregivers
and parents. Simple actions such as touching and talking with
children, comforting their hurts, and making them feel special
are essential in promoting children's mental health. The
purpose of this module is to explore ways to promote mental
health and healthy development in young children. Spending
quality time with children is important both at home and in the
child care environment.
