 Sanitation and Disease Prevention
Following standard (or
"universal") precautions is essential in preventing the spread
of disease. Participant discussion includes the causes of
disease, how germs are spread, and ways to prevent the spread of
disease in childcare. Content includes infectious and
non-infectious diseases; how the body "fights" germs and the
role of immunization; viruses, bacteria, fungi, and parasites;
food-borne illness, cleaning and disinfecting; and of course,
hand washing. Participant activities show fun ways to educate
children about disease prevention.
