Trip Safety
Planning and Preparation
Children’s safety should be top
priority when planning field trips. Help caregivers identify
safe and appropriate settings for field trips, and anticipate
and prevent emergency situations that can occur. Content
includes why injuries often occur on field trips; selecting a
site; planning, and preparation; transportation safety;
emergency preparedness; and parent involvement and notification.

session, the participants will be able to:

injuries or situations that may occur during field trips;
- Identify safety
considerations in planning and preparing for field trips;
- Identify appropriate
responses to specific emergency situations; and,
- Identify ways to
effectively involve parents.
