Administration of
Medication in Early Childhood Settings
Different
situations may or may not require administration of medication
to children while in childcare, and providers should have
written policy and procedures regarding when and if to give
medications. This training program covers when to give
medications; the "Five Rights" of assisting with medication;
safety measures in handling, storing, and disposing of
medications; side effects and allergic reactions; appropriate
documentation; and effective follow-up with parents. Participant
activities help staff correctly measure and administer
medication.
