Dr. Charlotte M. Hendricks, President and founder of
www.childhealthonline.org, has promoted health
education for young children, parents, and teachers for
over 30 years. She pioneered research and
curriculum development for preschool health education,
based on the principle that adults are responsible for
children's health and safety; however, young children
need to explore their work and begin to develop
decision-making skills and healthy habits to promote
lifelong health. Her career in early childhood
education began in 1980 in a district health department,
and continued with experience in higher education, Head
Start, and national research projects. She is
Coordinator for the JCCEO Head Start Center for
Excellence, Editor of a national
peer-reviewed magazine, presents training workshops for
staff and parents, and has published numerous curricula
and resource materials. Recognized as a leader in her field, she has developed
resources for state and national organizations, including National
Association for Education of Young Children, the
American School Health Association, and National Fire
Protection Association. Recently, she
worked with WestEd and the California Department of
Education as a lead writer for the health domain chapter
in the California Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volume
2, and as an expert advisor on the accompanying
foundations and health measures.
Charlotte utilizes innovative methods to reach adults
with health messages. "You first have to get their
attention," says Dr. Hendricks, and she often does this
with the use of cartoons and graphics, followed by
concise and accurate information. Resources such
as HIP on Health®
provide parents and teachers
with practical information and ways to promote
children's health and development, while keeping them
safe from injury. Her latest publication, Quick
Guide to Medical Emergencies in Early Childhood Settings,
exemplifies her ability to present essential information
in an easy-to-follow format. Charlotte's high
energy demonstrations demonstrate her knowledge of
research and national standards, while providing
realistic solutions to issues facing parents, teachers,
and child caregivers.

Nicolas A. "Nic" Frising (1943-2005)
Nic
Frising had been creating cartoons,
caricatures, illustrations, and custom art
designs for years he would have said...but
wouldn't tell us how many. His humor
showed through in his wonderful illustrations
that are used in the HIP on Health® and MORE
HIP on Health® parent training packages. A
well known local artist in Joplin, Missouri,
his dedication to his craft was honored by
galleries and the community. We were
indeed lucky to have such a gifted artist work
with us.
